"Being a star just means that you just find your own special place, and that you shine where you are. To me, that's what being a star means." - Dolly Parton
A love letter to Jouer Cosmetics: Jouer, you dazzle me. You're consistent, you're durable, you're reliable, you're unique, you scintillate among thousands of other brands. You're one-in-a-million and as a small makeup brand, I'm an adoring fan.
Enough sap, but really, though - if you haven't heard of Jouer Cosmetics you should check them out. Again, thanks to Kathleen Lights and her terrific YouTube exposé, this brand came to my attention a few months ago, and after cautiously ordering highlighter "Citrine" to test the waters, I soon became enamored with the beauty of their products. This spring they released a few new lip toppers that caught my eye with their glittering brilliance, so I ordered two of them and another highlighter.
See these swatches in all their shimmering glory HERE!
I currently have a rose gold-colored lip topper and highlighter and a champagne-colored lip topper and highlighter and am loving both, the champagne one for its color versatility moreso. The lip toppers are a bit tricky to work with, I'll admit, but once on, they're real lookers. The reason they're difficult initially is that the glitter is suspended in clear gloss, so they tend to clump in odd places. I apply mine with a brush to clients instead of the doe-foot applicator as the glitter seems to collect and skip when stroked on with that wand.
The highlighters are light, and the first layer after opening is a bit powdery, but after a few uses it turns a little creamier and pigmented. "Citrine" is so gorgeous, not too cool, not too warm in tone - the purest champagne highlight I've come across. "Rose Gold" is warmer than it looks so be careful, more "gold" than "rose"! I can't wait to try more shades...
