"Like a therapist, or the local barkeep, hairdressers are in a position of trust, We are transforming not just how a person looks but how they feel and, therefore, they want to tell us things." - Tabatha Coffey
I’ve been rather lazy and uninspired when it comes to hair styling products and staying up-to-date with new product releases. I’m a huge Kenra fan and like a smattering of other products from Design.Me Puff Me to Sexy Hair’s Soy Renewal Beach Spray to BioSilk Silk Therapy Shine On Spray, but I needed a revamp, so when a MoroccanOil rep DMed, offering to send me a box of gratis product, I replied with a resounding “YES PLEASE”. A week later, I received the most lovely turquoise box chock full of product which included:
Moroccanoil Professional Series Styling Hot Flat Iron (retailed at $110)
Moroccanoil Treatment (retailed at $15)
Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray (retailed at $11)
Moroccanoil Root Boost (retailed at $29)
Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong (retailed at $24)
Moroccanoil Protect & Prevent Spray (retailed at $30)
It also included a gift card to use towards an educational class with the MoroccanOil Academy which is, in my opinion, the most valuable item inside the box! What an amazingly kind outreach this was to me as a small-time artist. I’m still using and testing the products, but for now I can truthfully say that I really love the flat iron, the hair spray, and the oil treatment! What I love about all of these products is that they smell. So. Good. Many hairstyling products reek of chemicals and alcohol causing malodorous hair, but these make your hair smell like a tropical vacation.
The flat iron is digital, sleek, and ergonomically handy (and a stunning shade of turquoise blue) with a soft silicone feel along the handles, making for a secure, comfortable grip. The mirrored plates inside the iron heat up quickly, and the tool's rounded edges give you a lovely bend in the hair when used as a curling iron.
I don't feel that their strong-hold Luminous Hair Spray is all that “strong”, but it has a medium hold, slight sheen, and divine scent. I plan to use it like a working spray throughout or over top of a finishing spray for its scent and shine.
The oil treatment is delightfully soft and weightless unlike many oils that can slick down the hair in a heavy way. It contains argan oil and linseed extract which focus on maintaining or restoring the health of the hair, and the oil can be used prior to or after drying, making it a very versatile product.
Have any of you tried Moroccanoil before (or are currently using a product of theirs) or as you as late to the game as I am in discovering this great little product line?
